Available for Hub Inventory Small, Midsized, and Huge licenses.
For every Product available in the MarketRock Inventory, it is possible to specify Compatibility.
Compatibility indicates which car or motorcycle models the Product is suitable for.
This feature is particularly useful for sellers of spare parts and accessories, allowing them to include all available Compatibilities in a single Listing. This ensures customers are well-informed and avoids orders for components that are not suitable for the buyer's vehicle.
The mechanism by which MarketRock employs the Compatibility feature varies depending on the Distribution Channel being used.
In this article, you will learn how to use the Compatibility feature on MarketRock, following this structure:
- When Compatibility can be used with MarketRock
- How to enable Compatibility on MarketRock
- KType
- Differences in usage by Distribution Channel:
When Compatibility Can Be Used with MarketRock
You can use the Compatibility feature on MarketRock under the following conditions:
- The Product must not have Variants.
- A specific Attribute Set must exist.
- For auto spare parts, you must have KType codes.
The Amazon and eBay Distribution Channels support Compatibility, although with specific peculiarities outlined later.
For other Distribution Channels, the Product will be considered "normally," as if Compatibility is not specified.
How to Enable Compatibility on MarketRock
On the Product detail page in MarketRock, a Compatibility tab is available. This tab allows you to activate compatibility for the product being edited.
Select the Attribute Set from the dropdown menu and click the Enable Compatibility button to input the specifications and add the vehicle models for which the Product is compatible.
KType
The KType is a unique code that identifies each spare part. This code is established by the TecDoc database, now recognized as the standard for auto spare parts.
For MarketRock users, KType codes can be acquired in three different ways:
- Purchasing a TecDoc database license for the necessary Compatibilities, which can then be manually entered into each Product.
- Using the eBay "Master Vehicle List" file to copy the relevant KType codes. The file is accessible through this link and is available only to eBay sellers. The KType codes must then be manually entered into each Product on MarketRock.
- Leveraging the integration between MarketRock and the TecDoc database (which operates through EAN codes).
Differences in Usage by Distribution Channel
Amazon
Compatibility is supported only for the "Automotive and Motorcycle" product type and requires specifying the KType.
When all fields are correctly completed, MarketRock creates a single Listing specifying the Compatibilities.
eBay
On eBay, Compatibility is not available for all categories. The most suitable category for listings with compatibility is "Vehicles, Parts & Accessories."
If Compatibility is not supported for the category in which you want to publish the Listing, MarketRock will split the Product, creating a separate Listing for each Compatibility value you have specified (which will be appended to the "listing title").
Additionally, each eBay site has different rules requiring unique handling of Attributes other than KType (e.g., Brand and Model).
Therefore, it is recommended to primarily use the KType code to create Listings for Products that require Compatibility.
