Instant Repricing: Everything You Need to Know

Available for Hub Inventory Small, Midsized, and Huge Licenses.

Introduction

Instant Repricing is an application for Marketrock users designed to optimize profits on Amazon and eBay. This app lets you apply various pricing strategies across these marketplaces, allowing for dynamic pricing adjustments based on competition.

How to Install Instant Repricing

Go to the top right menu > Store > Instant Repricing > Install.

To access the control panel, go to Settings > APP Settings > Instant Repricing.

Setting Up Instant Repricing

First, go to Amazon Users, where you’ll need to link your Amazon subscription, previously connected to Marketrock. You can also enable “Sync stock,” which, when checked, means Marketrock will update prices only, while quantities are managed directly on Amazon Seller Central. These settings are customizable under Settings > Amazon Users > Edit Subscription.

Click on Rules > Create a New Rule, where you can then set parameters to adjust your prices.

Step 1 - Marketplace

Select the marketplace for which the product will be repriced.

Step 2 - Rules

  • Simple Rule: Choose from 3 preset rules. Once selected, these cannot be modified later, so you’ll need to delete and create a new rule if needed.
  • Advanced Rule: Here, you define price increase and decrease thresholds, in percentages or euros. All five fields must be completed, with options left at your discretion.

Advanced Rule Example:

The first line defines maximum repricing limits, establishing strict bounds that won’t be exceeded. The second line sets how Marketrock should act if your price is higher than the “best” competitor. For example, if you set 1€ and you sell at 41€ while a competitor sells at 40€, Marketrock will aim to lower the price to 39€, or 1€ below 40€ (the theoretical price). The theoretical price is always validated against the first line’s limit. The third line defines Marketrock’s action if your price is lower than the “best” competitor. If set to 0.10€ and you sell at 39€ with the competitor at 40€, then the theoretical price will be 39.90€.

Choose to consider either the best seller or top-rated seller for Amazon and eBay repricing setups.

Rules can be filtered by:

  • Active/Inactive rules
  • Rule name (case insensitive)
  • Product SKU (case insensitive)
  • Marketplace These filters can also be combined.

Step 3 - Products

You’ll need to specify which category, subcategory, or individual products to connect to Instant Repricing. Select the category on the left and then choose products. In the Shipping Costs column, enter your shipping cost if separate from the product price. For eBay, use the Query field to enter keywords that identify listings you want to compete with.

Step 4 - Save

Give the rule a name and check the Enabled box if you want the algorithm to start recalculating prices and updating your listings online.

After activating the rule, you can monitor price changes by going to Analytics: select the rule to analyze and view details for each product, including price adjustments and a graph of the last 10 changes (found under Price History).

If shipping is separate, include it when selecting a product in the rule; otherwise, IR will only consider the price on MarketRock for repricing. Enter the shipping price manually for each product under the Products tab.

Instant Repricing for International Markets

Instant Repricing supports all Amazon Europe and eBay Worldwide markets, working similarly to the Italian market with a few specific requirements:

To reprice internationally, you must have a Marketrock price list connected to that market in the appropriate currency. For instance, to reprice on eBay UK, you need a UK-linked Marketrock price list in pounds. If Instant Repricing were to receive competitor prices in GBP and compare them against EUR without a conversion rate, repricing would be inaccurate.

For Amazon, you need to connect your international subscription under “Amazon Users,” just as with the Italian subscription.

How to Use Instant Repricing for Amazon

In this guide, we’ll look at setting up a repricing rule for Amazon:

  1. In the "Rules" page, click “Create a New Rule.”

  2. Choose the marketplace from the dropdown. You may be prompted to have a dedicated price list for each marketplace to avoid price changes across other markets.

  3. For a “Simple Rule,” select one of the three available options. Switching to an “Advanced Rule” later will require deleting the initial rule.

  4. For an “Advanced Rule,” set parameters:

    • Maximum Decrease – fixed or percentage
    • Maximum Increase – fixed or percentage
    • Competitor Distance – specify distance from the competitor once reaching their price.
    • Competitor Type – choose between all Amazon sellers or those eligible for the BuyBox.
  5. Select the products, mark the shipping costs if separate, and then name and enable the rule.

  6. SAVE

Important Note

Instant Repricing will ignore competitors with shipping times over 10 days, as Amazon often lists competitive offers with long delivery times. For initial synchronization, the lowest price will be taken regardless of competitor choice.

Competitor Selection on IR for Amazon

When configuring IR for Amazon, you can choose to compare your price with:

  1. The best competitor price
  2. The best top-seller competitor price

Using Instant Repricing for eBay

To set up a repricing rule for eBay:

  1. In the "Rules" page, click on “Create a New Rule.”

  2. Select the marketplace from the dropdown. You may be prompted to have a dedicated price list for each marketplace.

  3. Set parameters:

    • Maximum Decrease – fixed or percentage
    • Maximum Increase – fixed or percentage
    • Competitor Distance – specify distance from the competitor once reaching their price.
    • Competitor Type – choose between all eBay sellers or only Top Sellers.
    • Competitor Location – specify if you want to compare against all eBay sellers or only Italian sellers.
    • Price Type – choose whether to compare with all prices or only those above yours.
    • Competitor Position – compare with “the first by relevance” or the “lowest-priced among the top X by relevance.”
  4. Select the products, mark the shipping costs if separate, and choose to compare by EAN or search query.

  5. Name the rule and set it to “Active” if desired.

  6. SAVE

IR and Products with Variants

Instant Repricing offers two options based on your repricing goal:

  1. Apply a search query to the PARENT PRODUCT if you want repricing rules to cascade across all variants.
  2. Apply search queries to VARIANTS if each should have a unique repricing strategy.

Other Notes

For optimal results, tailor search queries to improve competitor matching on eBay by using quotes for exact phrases and parentheses to group words for logical searches. Avoid both EAN and query as only the query will be used.
