Introduction
To assign a Price to a Product in your MarketRock Inventory, you need to decide which Price List to use.
For this reason, on MarketRock, the concept of a Price List is closely tied to that of Price.
The Price Lists on MarketRock allow you to sell the same Product at different Prices across various Distribution Channels and countries. Thanks to the concept of a Price List, you can sell a Product "SKU 001" using, for example, these commercial policies:
- SKU 001 on Amazon Italy: Price €15
- SKU 001 on Amazon Germany: Price €12
- SKU 001 on Shopify: Price €18
Each time you assign a Price to a Product for a certain Price List, that Product becomes part of the same Price List.
To clarify further, let me give you this example. Imagine you have a Price List on MarketRock named "Amazon Italy Price List" and three Products in your MarketRock Inventory: "Smartphone SKU 001," "Book SKU 002," and "Lamp SKU 003."
Now imagine assigning a Price for the three Products with the respective values in the "Amazon Italy Price List." For "SKU 001," you input €19; for "SKU 002," €29; and for "SKU 003," €150.
By clicking on Settings > Price Lists, you will find the "Amazon Italy Price List" displaying the list of Products in a table:
Name | SKU | Price | Discount | Discount Type |
---|---|---|---|---|
Smartphone | SKU 001 | €19 | - | - |
Book | SKU 002 | €29 | - | - |
Lamp | SKU 003 | €150 | - | - |
Assuming that the "Amazon Italy Price List" is configured for sales on Amazon Italy, the table above can be interpreted as a list of all Products ready to be sold on Amazon Italy.
As a consequence, if you do not input a Price in the "Amazon Italy Price List" for "SKU 004," that SKU will not appear in the table above and cannot be sold on Amazon Italy.
In general, you can interpret a MarketRock Price List as the collection of Products that can be sold on a Distribution Channel.
By default, Products are included in a "Default Price List," which is not linked to any Distribution Channel.
In this article, you will learn how to use Price Lists in the following order:
- Buttons and their functions
- Creating a new Price List
- Editing a Price List
- Massively update Prices or Discounts in a Price List
- Clone information between Price Lists
- Remove Products from the Price List
Buttons and Their Functions
MarketRock's interfaces, as customers often state, are very intuitive. Below is a brief description of the functions of the buttons found on the Price List screen:
- Edit Price List
- New Price List
- Remove selected rows
- Discount/increase Price List prices
- Filter by
- Configure
- Sort title
- Select
- Update
Creating a New Price List
To create a new Price List, click the "New" button. Creating a Price List allows you to configure it with the following settings:
- Price List Name: This is an internal, user-defined name.
- Markets: Here, you can choose which Distribution Channels the Price List will be enabled for. This setting is highly "granular," allowing you to also select the country for a specific Distribution Channel.
- Keep synchronized: This option allows you to enable or disable synchronization of Prices and available inventory quantities. If disabled, changes in MarketRock Inventory will not be reflected in the Distribution Channel.
- Currency: You can set a specific currency if the Price List is linked to a foreign Distribution Channel. You will need to enter Prices in the reference currency. In the case of cloning a Price List with currency exchange, MarketRock will adjust the price according to the destination currency.
- Discounts enabled: Here, you decide whether the Price List can include Discounts or not. To learn more about the impact of a Discount on a Distribution Channel, you can consult this article.
Click "Proceed" to move to the Prices screen, where you can choose to import Prices from a previously created Price List. There are two options:
- No: Create the Price List without including any Products.
- Yes: Import Products from an existing Price List and optionally increase or decrease Prices by a fixed or percentage amount. You can also decide whether to keep existing Discounts in the imported Price List.
Click "Save" to complete the creation of the Price List.
The created Price List will appear in the Price List screen dropdown menu: "You are operating on the Price List."
Editing a Price List
Previously created Price Lists can be edited in all their configuration settings by clicking the "Edit Price List" button.
Once the necessary changes are made, click "Save" to complete the process.
Massively Updating Prices or Discounts in a Price List
If you need to massively update Prices or Discounts in a Price List, click the "Discount/increase Price List prices" button.
The dialog box that opens allows you to choose:
- Source Price List: The Price List you want to massively update.
- Destination Price List: Choose the same Price List as the source.
Click "OK" to proceed to the second screen, where you can:
- Remove associated Discounts (delete existing Discounts in the destination Price List).
- Adjust the final Price by a fixed or percentage amount.
Click "OK" to complete the process.
Cloning Information Between Price Lists
If you need to adopt a new Price List for a Distribution Channel, you can clone Prices and Discounts from an existing Price List.
For example, imagine you are selling on Shopify with a Price List and want to start selling on Amazon with the same Prices, increased by 10%.
Click the "Discount/increase Price List prices" button.
The dialog box that opens allows you to choose:
- Source Price List: The Price List you want to clone information from (in this example, Shopify).
- Destination Price List: The Price List you are creating (in this example, Amazon).
Click "OK" to proceed to the second screen, where you can:
- Remove associated Discounts (delete existing Discounts in the destination Price List).
- Adjust the imported Prices to increase or decrease them by a fixed or percentage amount.
Click "OK" to complete the process.
Removing Products from the Price List
If you want to remove one or more Products from the Price List, you can do so by selecting the rows of interest (filtering them if necessary) and clicking the "Remove selected rows" button.
If the Price List you are working on has the "Keep synchronized" option active and the Products you want to remove are being sold on a Distribution Channel linked to the Price List, MarketRock will terminate the sale of the Product in question on the Distribution Channel (e.g., deactivating the Product on Amazon or removing the listing from eBay).
