Introduction
This article addresses the topic of Prices.
MarketRock offers great flexibility in price management, allowing you to configure it to:
- Have different prices for the same product sold on different distribution channels and in different countries. For example, SKU 001 can be sold on Amazon.it at one price, Amazon.de at another price, and eBay.es at yet another price.
- Manage prices in different currencies.
- Handle different prices for different variant products.
A key concept closely related to prices is what MarketRock calls Price Lists.
To enter a price, you must do so from the Products screen. Once a price is entered for a product, that product will appear in the corresponding Price List.
The price can be viewed, modified, or deleted either from the product card or from the Price List screen but can only be entered from the product.
The Price List is the field where the product's price is assigned. Since a product can have multiple prices, it can be expressed across multiple different fields. Each of these is a Price List, uniquely named.
Every new MarketRock account comes with a default Price List called the Default Price List.
This article explains how to manage prices on MarketRock, while a dedicated section is reserved for exploring Price Lists. The topics covered are:
- Creating, modifying, and deleting a price.
- Bulk price modifications.
- Localizing prices using different currencies.
- Prices and distribution channels.
Creating, Modifying, and Deleting a Price
Prices are entered starting from the product. You can use the field in the default Price List (called the Default Price List), or create a different Price List.
To modify a price in MarketRock, you can choose between two methods:
- Via the Products view
- Select the product you want to modify, click the gear button Edit, and go to the Availability tab. Here, you can update the price.
- Inline mode: Use the Configure button on the right to add the Price column to the display. A Price column will appear in the product list, allowing you to directly edit the price there without entering the product editing screen.
To modify the price of variant products, select the parent product: prices can be found in the Variants tab.
To enable inline editing, use Configure to add the Variant Number column. Click on the variant number, and a box will appear with the details for each variant, including the price.
- Via the Price List view
- To modify prices in a specific Price List, click Settings > Price Lists. Choose the Price List you want to view from the dropdown menu under "You are operating on." You can then modify the prices of the relevant products, using filters if necessary. There is no save button: click anywhere on the screen to save the price change.
Bulk Price Modifications
Prices can be modified using the two methods outlined above.
If you need to modify prices in bulk, you can do so:
-
Via the Products view
- Use the Simple Import function. This feature allows precise modifications, useful when you don’t have a universal rule for all products but have an Excel file listing products and their prices. Details can be found in this article.
-
Via the Price List view
- Use the Discount/Increase List Prices feature available in the Price List screen. This method allows you to apply a rule for all products with a price assigned in the Price List you are modifying (e.g., “Increase all prices by €2” or “Reduce all prices by €5”). Details can be found in this article.
Localizing Prices Using Different Currencies
Localizing a price involves defining its currency in the Price List.
Prices and Distribution Channels
As mentioned earlier, once a price is assigned to a product by entering the value in the relevant Price List field, you can view that product by accessing the Price List screen.
By viewing a Price List, you can see all the products for which you have entered a price in the corresponding Price List field.
Since Price Lists are associated with one or more distribution channels, viewing a Price List means displaying all products destined for a distribution channel.
To clarify, here’s an example. Consider the two products listed in the table below:
Name | SKU | Price |
---|---|---|
Blue tracksuit | 001 | Amazon List: €100 |
eBay List: €95 | ||
Collared T-Shirt | 002 | Amazon List: €50 |
The "Blue tracksuit," with prices assigned in both the Amazon and eBay Price Lists, will be listed on both marketplaces.
The "Collared T-Shirt" will only be listed on Amazon.
When accessing the Amazon Price List screen, you will see:
Name | SKU |
---|---|
Blue tracksuit | 001 |
Collared T-Shirt | 002 |
When accessing the eBay Price List screen, you will see:
Name | SKU |
---|---|
Blue tracksuit | 001 |
