How to Upload an Attachment
Uploading a document is simple and intuitive. Here’s how to do it:
- Click on the paperclip button. This opens a window where you can manage your attachments.
- Select the file. In the window, choose the document you want to upload.
- Choose the document type. Among the available options, you’ll find Commercial Invoice and Certificate of Origin, which help the system and couriers properly handle the files.
- Confirm the upload. Once uploaded, the document will appear in the list of attachments.
After uploading, you can:
- View the document – Click on the file name to open and review it.
- Remove it – If you uploaded the wrong file, delete it by clicking the X button next to the name.
- Add more documents – There’s no limit to the number of documents you can upload, but be sure to follow the specific rules of each courier.
Always check if the selected courier supports paperless mode before sending the shipment.
Supported Document Types
MarketRock offers a flexible attachment management system with a predefined list of document types to simplify organization and compliance. The main types include:
- Commercial Invoice – Essential for international shipments.
- Certificate of Origin – Confirms the production location of the goods.
- Other – A general category for non-standard documents.
This categorization helps you manage specific needs and ensures clear communication with couriers.
Limits and Courier Compatibility
FedEx
FedEx simplifies the process by automatically enabling ETD (Electronic Trade Documents) when setting up MarketRock. This allows you to upload documents without additional costs or manual steps.
- ETD Service Activation: No need to request activation from FedEx—it’s already enabled in MarketRock. However, you should verify that the activation is active. You can do this by checking the FedEx developer portal to ensure the application supports API uploads for commercial documents.
- Compatibility: All document types are supported, including the Other category for additional flexibility.
- Limits: No maximum number of documents.
- Label: If electronic documents are uploaded, the label will display ETD.
DHL Express
To use paperless mode with DHL Express, you need to activate the service through MyDHL+. Once set up, you can securely upload specific documents.
- Supported Documents:
- Commercial Invoice, including regional variations.
- Certificate of Origin, including USMCA format.
- Proforma Invoice.
- Customs Declaration.
- Limits: No restrictions on the number of uploaded documents.
- Label: If electronic documents are present, the label will show Automated Digital Imaging (PJ).
UPS
UPS offers electronic document services for free, but it must be enabled for your customer account. You can activate it by accessing My UPS and following the instructions to enable Paperless Commercial Invoice.
- Compatibility: All document types are supported. Use the Other category when necessary.
- Limits: You can upload up to 13 files per shipment.
- Label: No specific ETD indication on the label.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Not everything goes smoothly on the first try. If you encounter issues with attachments, MarketRock helps you quickly fix them. Here are some common problems and their solutions:
- Exceeded attachment limit – Remove extra files and keep only the necessary ones.
- Unsupported document type – Replace the file with one that meets the courier’s requirements.
- Shipment generation error – Ensure that all required data is correctly entered, such as package weight.
If a shipment fails, you can always go back and modify attachments, delete problematic files, or upload new ones—ensuring maximum flexibility when handling errors.
